Puerto Rican rivals Juan Manuel Lopez and Wilfredo Vazquez Jr., both former world titleholders well past their best days, have never liked each other. For years, they have engaged in trash talk. Now, with neither boxer having any prospects for a decent payday, they plan to settle their differences in the ring. Lopez, a former featherweight and junior featherweight titlist, and Vazquez, who won a junior featherweight title, will meet in a scheduled 12-round junior lightweight fight on Oct. 8 in their home countrys Roberto Clemente Coliseum in San Juan, upstart firm Black Tiger Promotions announced on Thursday. They will fight at a contract weight of 129 pounds, though there is a mandated weight check on the day of the bout for which neither fighter can rehydrate to more than 136 pounds, an accommodation to the smaller Vazquez. The 33-year-old Lopez (34-5, 31 KOs), a southpaw with great power, will end a 25-month retirement to fight Vazquez.Lopez, always with a shaky chin -- he has been stopped in all five of his losses -- has lost two fights in a row and three of his past four, each by harsh early knockout.?Mikey Garcia blasted him out in the fourth round of a featherweight title bout in June 2013; Francisco Vargas took him out in three rounds in July 2014; and Jesus Cuellar destroyed him in the second round to retain an interim featherweight belt in September 2014.Lopez retired after the bout against Cuellar, but he has been restless in retirement, and the prospect of his getting his hands on Vazquez was too much to ignore. Finally this fight has come from many years of trash talk from Vazquez, Lopez said at a news conference announcing the bout at a sports bar in San Juan. I said if you want to fight me, they have to pay me what I was worth at that time. I didnt say that you were receiving this and so I have to get that. I dont fight for names. I fight for business. I dont fight for reputation, but its necessary to be a famous person so people will come to see me fight.I remember a video where Papito [Vazquez] said he would fight me for free at 130 pounds or 160 pounds, but you really wanted a catchweight of less than 130 and now you want 50 percent of the purse.Vazquez (24-6-1, 19 KOs) is no fan of Lopezs either.Everybody here knows what I think about Juanma Lopez, he said. From now on, no more trash talk because I will not lose my focus on this fight. I was training for a fight on June 25, but it was canceled and thank God this fight was offered.Ive never gotten any credit from Juanma Lopez. Ive taken his crap and responded to those comments and now the fight is made. I will show Juanma Lopez that sacrifice defeats talent.Vazquez, 32, the son of former three-division titleholder Wilfredo Vazquez Sr., has lost two fights in a row and three of his past four, all by decision. He is coming off a 10-round split decision to unbeaten Rafael Rivera in December.Jeff Green Jersey . The judges scored it 48-47, 48-47, 49-46 for Jones (19-1). It was the champions closest call. Despite the loss, it was a remarkable show by the confident Swedish challenger, who had the best of the early rounds and then hung on in the fourth and fifth. Cheap Wizards Jerseys . - The Oakland Raiders re-signed offensive lineman Khalif Barnes on Friday. Austin Rivers Jersey .25 million option on reliever Jose Veras. When the Oakland Raiders and Kansas City Chiefs got together for their twice yearly meetings over the last 57 years, theres always been a certain edge to the competition.Generally what has been on the line is pride, reputation and honor. Every once in a while the payoff is even larger. The latter is the case Thursday night when the Raiders visit Arrowhead Stadium to play the Chiefs. Kickoff is set for 7:35 p.m. in what is predicted to be a frigid evening, with temperatures in the high-teens and a wind-chill factor that will make it feel like 10 degrees.Honestly I love the cold, said Oakland quarterback Derek Carr. I played in the Mountain West Conference and you play in a lot of different places whether its Wyoming or Reno or Air Force or Colorado State, obviously cold places. Ive had my fair share of those games; you treat it like any other game whenever you talk about weather. If you let it affect you, it will, so you just go out there with the right mindset. The weather conditions just may help the 9-3 Chiefs cool off the hot 10-2 Raiders. The battle is for control of the AFC West, where Oakland is the leader and the Chiefs sit a game behind. But Kansas City won the first game between the teams 26-10 back in October in Oakland. Since that game the Raiders have not lost, racking up six consecutive victories by an average margin of nine points. Carr has become the first player in NFL history to throw five game-winning touchdown passes in the fourth quarter or overtime in a season. Both teams know each other, said Chiefs head coach Andy Reid. Theyve made changes defensively that have made them better on that side of the ball. Theyre playing very good all the way around in the different phases. They were a little down on the defensive side early on but theyve picked up in that area. Theyre flying around and making plays.Other than a two-point loss to Tampa Bay just over two weeks ago, the Chiefs have continued their winning ways, taking six of the last seven games.dddddddddddd With their 11-1 record to close out the 2015 season, Kansas City is 20-4 in their last 24 regular-season and postseason games. Both teams won last Sunday, with the Chiefs beating the Falcons in Atlanta by one point and the Raiders coming from behind for a victory over Buffalo. The short preparation time is the bane for all players and coaches, especially the Chiefs, who have had two straight road games, including the trip to Denver when they played a full 75 minutes. The Raiders will be sore, tired and cold. The number one thing is recovery, said Carr. In a week like this, theres some tough things that come with it, but like Coach Del Rio says, Nobody cares. Nobody cares, at the end of the day you have to go play. The Raiders have a half-dozen victories this season that came with strong fourth-quarter comebacks. Its a mentality thats changed around Oakland with Del Rio in charge. Were learning how to win games at whatever cost it takes, said Carr. Whether its Khalil (Mack) stripping somebody or Tay (Latavius Murray) running the ball in or Seth (Roberts) catching another game-winner, were just learning how to win games. I think that the more experience we have at doing that, the more situations were in were going to be able to look back and said, Weve done this before. The first game between these teams was a 16-point victory for the Chiefs. That day the Raiders did not have Murray, who was out with an injury. He should be on the field Thursday evening. That K.C. victory was built on ball control and security.Theyll need more of the same to slow the Raiders locomotive. The positive is you get a few days off afterwards, said Reid. Getting ready is a bit of a scramble drill, but you do it and you move on. Its hardest on the players, especially the later you get in the year. ' ' '
