WASHINGTON -- Besieged by starting pitching injuries, the Los Angeles Dodgers are looking for solid outings from the starters they have left.Bud Norris gave them a maddeningly inconsistent one Wednesday night in an 8-1 loss to the Washington Nationals. Norris (5-8) struck out eight but allowed six earned runs on seven hits, including three home runs, before getting pulled in the sixth inning.Five innings, got some strikeouts, but its tough to win (when) they hit the ball out of the ballpark, Dodgers manager Dave Roberts said.Norris got the start after South Korean left-hander Hyun-Jin Ryu was put on the disabled list with elbow tendinitis. The Dodgers are also without three-time NL Cy Young Award winner Clayton Kershaw because of a herniated disk in his back and wont have lefty Alex Wood for eight weeks after he underwent arthroscopic surgery on his elbow.Unlike many of the Dodgers other pitchers, Norris is healthy, but he was still victimized on home runs by Bryce Harper, Ben Revere and Jayson Werth. Harpers two-run home run was a 451-foot moonshot into the third deck in right field at Nationals Park in the first inning.Harper put a good swing on the ball in the first inning, Norris said as the understatement of the night. Roberts said Norris threw the 3-1 fastball into Harpers nitro zone. With the Dodgers scoring only one run on a single by call-up Charlie Culberson in the second off the Nationals Gio Gonzalez (6-8), Norris didnt have much margin for error. He did strike out Harper and NL batting leader Daniel Murphy before an RBI double by Wilson Ramos ended his night. But it was back-to-back homers by Revere and Werth in the fifth that Roberts said did the Dodgers in.Unfortunately in that fifth inning I thought I made a pitch that could have been really close, Norris said. I guess I had a mental lapse there.TRAINERS ROOMDodgers: Roberts said surgery was more of a possibility for Kershaw after a setback with the herniated disk in his back. ... Roberts said All-Star SS Corey Seager could be back in the lineup Thursday after missing two games with a stomach virus. ... RHP Chris Hatcher was placed on the disabled list with an oblique injury.KENDRICK KEEPS IT ALIVEWith his double in the eighth, Dodgers LF Howie Kendrick extended his hitting streak to 12 games. A fly out left him stranded.CALL HIM TREY TURNERNationals 2B Trea Turner made it back-to-back games with triples when he hit one into the left-field corner in the sixth inning. He then stole home on a botched pickoff attempt, the Nationals first steal of home since Harper in 2012.UP NEXTLHP Julio Urias (1-2, 4.95 ERA) is the next man up for the Dodgers, and hell face Nationals RHP Stephen Strasburg (13-0, 2.51 ERA).Shaquille ONeal Jersey . Ryan Garbutt had a goal and two assists as Dallas snapped a six-game losing streak with a 5-2 victory over the Edmonton Oilers on Tuesday night. Terrell Brandon Jersey . The Dane followed up his first European Tour title last weekend with eight birdies and just a single dropped shot on Thursday for a one-stroke advantage over South Africas Allan Versfeld and Portugals Ricardo Santos. https://www.thecavalierslockerroom.com/Cedi-Osman-City-Edition-Jersey/ . Detroit and Boston are deadlocked, 1-1, and Tigers manager Jim Leyland could be forgiven if he was caught rationalizing instead of dissecting how his club could blow a 5-1 lead late in Game 2. J.R. Smith Cavaliers Jersey .com) - Following a late-game loss to the reigning NBA champs, the Toronto Raptors will look to sustain their recent high-level play as they travel to Indiana to take on the Pacers. Darius Garland Cavaliers Jersey . It was the kind of score that might make everyone else wonder which course he was playing. Except that Graeme McDowell saw the whole thing. Crouched behind the 10th green at Sheshan International, McDowell looked over at the powerful American and said, "Ive probably seen 18 of the best drives Ive seen all year in the last two days.TWICKENHAM, England -- ?As news broke of the 10cm tear in Jack Nowells quad which puts his participation in the November Tests in grave doubt, Eddie Jones and Paul Gustard were sat at Twickenham Stoop, eyes trained on Harlequins winger Marland Yarde as he played Northampton.A combination of Anthony Watsons fractured jaw and Nowells torn quad -- injuries both sustained on Englands Brighton training camp -- means the chances are England will need a new-look partnership on the wings when South Africa come to town on Nov. 12.Yarde and Baths Semesa Rokoduguni are in the driving seat to fill those two berths.Yarde can be a frustrating player. Supremely talented, his form drifts from one end of the spectrum to the other and no more so than in an England jersey. For every memorable moment, such as his dart through Richie McCaw against New Zealand in Dunedin back in 2014, there is a dip, and he was dropped following the first Test of last summers tour of Australia. But England coach Jones is a fan. Prior to the Brisbane Test back in June, Jones labelled him very coachable but also said he needed to sort out Yardes attitude, labelling him previously too big for his boots. Jones felt he had dealt with that saying Yarde was now back down to earth and would be a really special player for England. The summer Test series passed without Yarde really grasping the opportunity but there is a sense -- reinforced while watching him impress against Northampton on Saturday -- that he is confident and finding Test-standard form. His coach John Kingston certainly thinks so. He was absolutely terrific, Kingston said soon after their 20-99 victory.ddddddddddddThe season started a little bit slowly for him. He had a couple of knocks but the last couple of weeks hes been fantastic.Yarde made 43 metres heading forward but his work in defence was also admirable, putting in five tackles. There was a moment when George North sniffed an opportunity on the left flank but after a 10 metre run up, he hit the Yarde brick wall and that move was stopped resolutely in its tracks.Ive got a huge amount of time for him, Kingston added. He puts everything into his training and everything into his play. He was outstanding today.Marlands always had unbelievably good intent to do the right thing. Ive got a soft spot for him, hes a good man. I think hes really put his weight behind everything this year and he always gives 100 per cent. What may have also impressed Jones was how Yarde linked up with his England and Quins teammate Mike Brown. There was a moment in the first half where Brown chased a long kick and just kept it from going into touch; flicked it back in-field and there was Yarde to kick long.It is a partnership that looks increasingly likely to be reunited for Englands November opener against the Springboks.Marlands a fine player, Mikes a fine player, Kingston said. Its not my job to pick the England side but hopefully they gave Eddie some difficult decisions to make.Yarde has had his opportunities in the past, but player, club and country alike will have a sense of optimism that this may be the moment he takes the next step.
