Starting quarterback Case Keenum was abysmal against the 49ers. The Rams offense was built around a purely horizontal passing game, and San Francisco was able to sit within the first 10 yards of the line of scrimmage and cover everything.The presumption of many observers is that this should never have happened. Los Angeles may have placed a first-round tender on Keenum to make sure they didnt lose him this offseason, but he was still supposed to be the backup. The Rams traded up to the No. 1 overall pick to select Cal quarterback Jared Goff, and most first-round quarterbacks these days play from Day 1, for better or worse. Unfortunately, Goffs preseason was objectively terrible. He completed just 44.9 percent of his passes, throwing two picks and fumbling twice, while taking four sacks in 49 dropbacks.
